Coffee lovers donate tons of food

Customers of Dutch Bros. Coffee donated 10,417 pounds of canned food to food banks in the Sacramento region through a promotion on Valentine’s Day.

On that day, Dutch Bros. offered customers a free drink in exchange for a contribution of five canned food items. The Food Bank of Yolo County, Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services and Auburn Interfaith Food Closet benefited from the drive at Dutch Bros Coffee locations in Davis, Woodland, Sacramento, Citrus Heights and Auburn.

On May 3, the coffee retailer will observe its annual MDA Day, when all proceeds from all drinks will be donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association in memory of company co-founder Dane Boersma, who died of the disease in 2009.

Dutch Bros. Coffee locations are locally owned and operated. The Davis store is at 980 W. Olive Drive (at Richards Boulevard); the Woodland stores are at 7 Main St. and 1332 E. Main St. Follow Dutch Bros Woodland/Davis, owned by Sean and Lynsey Provost, at www.facebook.com/DutchBrosWoodland.
