Bravo! New Mexican, coffee and tea spots

The long-awaited El Toro Bravo Mexican Kitchen may open as soon as this week, an owner reports.

The Mexican fusion restaurant is in the former Baja Fresh spot at 237 D St. It’s under the same ownership as nearby Burgers & Brew and Crepeville.

Co-owner Derar Zawaydeh was dealing with inspections last week. “It has been rough going, trying to open El Toro, but it looks like we are finally there.”

He said he planned to start testing the menu as early as Saturday and hopefully open later this week.

Dutch Bros. Coffee opened on Nov. 30. The store is at 980 W. Olive Drive, in the former Caffino kiosk. It’s open 24 hours.

The owner of Teabo Café in Oakshade Town Center hopes to open it Wednesday or Thursday at 2191 Cowell Blvd., Suite E, where Quizno’s was.

Owner Adam Mah graduated from UC Davis a year ago.

The drink menu includes teas, milk teas, smoothies, ices, Italian sodas and coffee. Items like tapioca pearls or various jellies may be added to drinks, creating what is known as tapioca (milk) tea, bubble tea or boba. It features food like popcorn chicken, fries, nachos and various Asian snacks, Mah said.

On Thursday, Boheme Hip Used Clothing moved to a new spoace, at 409 Third St.

The new location is the yellow house near Burgers & Brew. Its former space was 222 D St., Suite 9A, which it shared with Paulina’s, a women’s clothing boutique. The two stores opened in July in the former Renew Denim spot. Paulina’s will move in January to an undisclosed space on F Street.

Donahue was excited about the change for Boheme. “Our new, larger store now includes hip clothing for guys and tweens, as well as our vastly expanded selection of women’s items.”

The store offers credit to customers who consign their gently used clothing. The website is http://bohemethreads.com.

Store hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays.

Feldspar Pet Spa has its grand opening last month at 1260 Lake Blvd., Suite 118 in Westlake Plaza.

Owner Ann Martin is “an international award-winning master groomer,” having held titles including Best American Groomer, according to the business’ website. She is experienced with dog shows and leads seminars on grooming.

The business services dogs and cats with bathing and grooming, teeth cleaning and “pawdicures.” Spa treatments for pampered pooches include “deep conditioning and full body massage with evening primrose oil shampoo and conditioner.”

Abbey Road Press moved in October. The print, copy and design shop’s new address is 338 G St., Suite A, next to Davis Gold & Silver Exchange. It moved from a spot at Fourth and L streets because owner Jim Crismon said he wanted to be closer to downtown.

The shop first opened on Abbey Street in Winters in 1978. At that time, it serviced only nonprofits. It moved to Davis in the 1980s. Crimson purchased it in 2007.

Today, it is open to the public and offers design and printing of services including booklets, fliers, envelopes, business cards, brochures and letterhead.

Mathnasium, a math turoring center, hosted a grand opening on Nov. 10. Its office is at 618 Fourth St. in Davis. Rene Tsang is the director of the Davis franchise, which serves elementary and high school students.

AggieTech is a new tech-fixit store inside University Mall, at 825 Russell Blvd., Suite 18. It opened Nov. 30 and occupies the space formerly held by AggieExpress, Enterprise reporter Tom Sakash said.

The store specializes in printing, shipping, tech repair, ink cartridge sales and textbook buyback. Tech repair includes computers, video game consoles and phones.

Owner Kyle Thomas signed a six-month lease, but told Sakash he is worried about the lack of exterior signage for the small interior stores in the mall. Thomas hopes the mall management will allow changes.
