By From page A13 | July 06, 2014

To celebrate its 56th anniversary, International House of Pancakes will offer a short stack of buttermik pancakes for 56 cents from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 8. The Davis IHOP is at 1745 Cowell Blvd.

Al and Jerry Lapin opened the first IHOP in 1958 in Toluca Lake. That same year in America, there were three major television stations, a gallon of gas cost 24 cents and the Hula Hoop was invented. There are now 1,627 restaurants in all 50 states and around the globe.
