Input sought for Arboretum, downtown

By May 20, 2011

The Davis Downtown Business Association will hold its monthly Brown Bag Lunch from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, in the River City Bank conference room, 239 E St.

Emily Griswold, assistant director of horticulture at the UC Davis Arboretum, will discuss plans for the UCD Arboretum City Arts GATEway. Officials are exploring options to add new gardens, visitor amenities and a new welcome gate where the Arboretum intersects with the downtown, and downtown business are encouraged to share their ideas about strengthening ties with the Arboretum.

Griswold will be specifically responsible for managing a new garden development project at the east end of the Arboretum just south of the Davis Commons parking lot.

No RSVP is required, and the public is invited. The event is informal, and participants should bring a lunch. The Brown Bag Lunch series normally takes place on the fourth Wednesday of each month.
