While Lyon Real Estate is best known for selling homes, the company also helps area nonprofits through its Lyon Cares program.
During 2011, Lyon Cares raised $250,000 for charities and nonprofit organizations throughout the greater Sacramento region, an accomplishment recognized with a Partners in Philanthropy Award from the Sacramento Business Journal.
The latest annual drive included more than 15,000 hours of volunteer work by Lyon agents and staff, benefiting some 150 charities and organizations, which also included a coat drive generating 3,110 winter coats for those in need.
Lyon Cares invites its agents and staff to nominate worthy charities for support. The tradition continues in 2012 with three Lyon Cares Awards recently announced. They include:
* Francis House Center, nominated by agent Kim Pacini-Hauch of the Sierra Oaks office, receiving $3,000 to fund its assistance to Sacramento’s homeless community;
* Turning Point Community Programs, nominated by Valerie and John Klinefelter of the Roseville office, receiving $2,000 to help people in need of recovery and mental health services; and
* Rebuilding Together Sacramento, nominated by Lindsay Bartlett of the West Sacramento office, receiving $1,000 for its work in preserving affordable housing, particularly for low-income seniors.
“We feel privileged to share our success. Doing well should go hand in hand with doing well by others, and that’s the spirit behind Lyon Cares,” said Lyon President Pat Shea in a news release.
