Design-build firm wins honors

Davis remodeler MAK Design Build Inc. received two Contractor of the Year Awards from the Greater Sacramento Valley Chapter of the National Association of Remodeling Industry. The awards were in the categories of entire house remodeling project for less than $250,000 and for a residential interior element.

Contractor of the Year Awards recognize and reward excellence in the remodeling industry. This is the sixth time that MAK Design Build Inc. has received awards from NARI.

In February, the company was awarded “Best Of Houzz” by Houzz, a leading platform for home remodeling and design. Winners receive a “Best Of Houzz 2014” badge on their profiles, showing the Houzz community their commitment to excellence. These badges help homeowners identify popular and top-rated home professionals in every metropolitan area on Houzz.

In late 2012, Michael Koenig of Honda Motor Corp. invited MAK Design Build Inc. to join a team of sustainable design consultants for the demonstration house Honda was planning to build on the UC Davis campus utilizing the best possibilities of sustainable residential building.

Over the past year and a half, MAK has provided expertise on finishes, fixtures, interior and exterior doors, interior furnishings and other interior specifications. The work was on display last weekend at the newly completed Honda Smart Home in UCD’s West Village.
