Longtime Davis entrepreneur Pam Marrone, founder and CEO of Marrone Bio Innovations, has been named Innovator of the Year by the Sacramento Regional Technology Alliance.

The announcement was made Wednesday at the Clean Start/AgStart Showcase at the McClellan Conference Center in Sacramento.

Since MBI was founded in 2006, it has hired 150 employees, brought three products to market and developed a long line of products it intends to bring to market. In August, the company had the Sacramento region’s first successful initial public offering in nearly a decade, through which it netted $61 million.

Marrone Bio Innovations develops, manufactures and sells biological-based pest management and plant health products. The company announced this summer that it is moving to a larger space in Davis, the former home of AgraQuest, which also was founded by Marrone.
