Moller: Skycar update coming soon

By From page A10 | October 27, 2013

Skycar developer Paul Moller of Davis announced Tuesday in a memo to investors that he will be making a “major announcement” regarding the future of Moller International Inc. and the Skycar air vehicle. The announcement will come Tuesday, Nov. 5, on the “Dark Matter” radio program, he said.

As a publicly traded company, Moller International and its CEO are required to disclose when material information about the company will be disclosed.

“Dark Matter” airs on the Sirius XM satellite radio network, hosted by Art Bell. The channel is available to satellite radio subscribers, and it is available for free at siriusxm.com. Moller will be Bell’s only guest on the four-hour program.

Moller International was founded in 1983 in Davis to develop a vertical takeoff and landing vehicle. In 1985, Moller acquired the entire rotary engine assets of Outboard Marine Corp., which had produced a compact rotary — or Wankel — engine for snowmobiles and outboards.

Moller uses the tiny but powerful Wankel in the Skycar, and the company has been developing the engine for other uses.
