Fleet Feet Sports in downtown Davis has once again been recognized by Formula 4 Media and Competitor Magazine as one of the “50 Best Running Stores in America.” Fleet Feet in Davis has garnered the recognition four out of the past five years.

The annual award is the result of a diligent selection process to cull the 50 best retailers from the estimated 1,200 such stores nationwide. The process includes a visit by a professional mystery shopper, an evaluation of the store’s community support programs, and feedback from the major shoe and apparel companies in the running industry.

“We are pleased to be recognized by our peers in the industry, but are even more gratified by the recognition our customers give us every day by supporting our business,” said J.D. Denton, who co-owns Fleet Feet in Davis with his wife, Chris. Fleet Feet opened in downtown Davis in 1979 and has been owned by the Dentons since 1996.

The award will be presented Dec. 5 at a banquet held during The Running Event in Austin, Texas, the running retail industry’s annual conference and trade show. The Dentons and Fleet Feet store manager Carol Owens will travel to Austin to accept the award.
