Open Rice Kitchen is open!

Open Rice Kitchen, an Asian fusion restaurant at 204 G St. in Davis, opened March 19. It fills the space left by nestware when the housewares and gift store moved to E Street Plaza.

Owner Calvin Liu said Monday that it’s a good time for a soft opening, as UC Davis students had finals last week and spring break this week. He plans a formal grand opening in a few weeks.

He said they are still testing some equipment in the kitchen, but things are going well. Neighbors and early customers have been very welcoming and supportive.

Its website says, “We are looking to provide you with tradition Asian favorites as well as some modern dishes. Our goal is to make sure that you not only enjoy, but love your entire experience with us.”

The menu features appetizers, dim sum, fried rice specials, stir-fry dishes, soups, noodle bowls and “signature entrees” with a choice of meat and sauce, served with steamed rice.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. Sundays through Wednesdays, and 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. Thursdays through Saturdays. Call (530) 757-2328 or visit http://openricekitchen.com/.
