A special coat for Hillel House

Finding donations and squeezing every possible nickel out of a budget is never easy.

Capital campaign manager Raphael Moore knows the troubles of both as he guides the remodel of the Hillel House. He decided at the beginning of the project that renovation of the property at 328 A St. would not move forward until the necessary finances were in place. The money came through and the project began in April 2011.

An extra bonus came in May, when he was notified that Hillel House was one of several community projects picked to compete in the 2011 Brooks Painting Charity Paint Giveaway. Brooks Painting opened the voting in June. The winning project would receive $10,000 worth of painting.

“We went into battle mode,” Moore said. “We got the troops together and started voting. We had a really good campaign.”
