Putah Creek Winery wins five silver medals

Putah Creek Winery of Davis earned five silver medals in the 2014 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition.

Competing with 5,825 other wines, and more than 1,500 participating wineries, Putah Creek Winery’s winning wines include a 2009 tannat, a 2011 syrah, a 2011 barbera, a 2012 sauvignon blanc and a 2012 unoaked chardonnay.

The 2009 tannat also won a gold medal and Best of Class of Region at the 2013 California State Fair Wine Competition, and is a varietal that is on the rise in the Davis region.

Putah Creek Winery has been making wines from grapes grown in South Davis since 2006. While the winery is not open for regular tasting hours, check its website at http://putahcreekwinery.com/events.html for event details. Customers can find Putah Creek Winery wines at both Nugget Markets in Davis, the Davis Food Co-op, Whole Foods in Davis and Roseville, and at select local restaurants.
