John Weubbe has been hired as executive vice president and director of commercial banking at River City Bank. Weubbe returns to his local roots with more than 25 years of commercial banking experience to join the Sacramento-based bank as it looks to cement its relationship with local businesses, and continue to grow into the future.

River City Bank has a Davis branch, at 239 E St.

Weubbe began his financial career in Sacramento with Bank of America’s Commercial Bank, eventually serving as senior vice president and senior client manager. He also worked for nine years with Wells Fargo Bank in Chicago, where he established the bank’s first food and agribusiness regional commercial banking office.

Additionally, Weubbe managed a staff of 34 professionals located across nine Wells Fargo offices, generating a portfolio of nearly $5 billion in credit commitments. His professional responsibilities included business development, credit administration, relationship and portfolio management, operations, compliance and customer service.

Weubbe attended Elk Grove High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics from UC Davis and a master of business administration degree from Cornell University.

While at UCD, he was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho, Phi Chapter, a national agricultural fraternity, and served as past chapter alumni board member. He is married with three children.
