Several new laws that impact employers are set to go into effect in the new year.
Downey Brand’s employment attorneys will hold three seminars to discuss the impact on California employers.
The first is Jan. 30 at the Downey Brand LLP building, 621 Capitol Mall, 18th floor, in Sacramento. The second is Feb. 5 at the University Plaza Waterfront Hotel, 110 W. Fremont St., in Stockton. The final one is Feb. 6 at the Hallmark Inn, 110 F St., in Davis.
Each seminar begins at 11:30 a.m. with registration and a buffet, followed by a presentation and question-and-answer session, ending at 1:15 p.m. Registration is $25.
Topics of discussion include effects of striking down the Defense of Marriage Act, changes to the Fair Employment and Housing Act, regulations on questioning applicants about criminal background, family leave, social media in the workplace and the Affordable Care Act mandate.
