Storm-damaged spa to reopen soon

By
March 24, 2011 |

Smooth as Silk Day Spa’s salon at 310 C St. suffered a major blow from last weekend’s storm. Winds uprooted a large hackberry tree, which fell on its roof. The business was been closed last week, but found a temporary home thanks to some quick and generous neighbors.

Owner Stella Forbes is moving her team to 305 D St. She hoped to have the spa open by early this week.

The spa building’s owners, Ken and Pat Henderson, also own the lots where YoloBerry yogurt, Burgers and Brew, and UC Davis’ West Village real estate offices reside. The West Village leasing office is at 409 Third St. in the beautiful new two-story house constructed next to Burgers & Brew.

UC Davis is a tenant through August. The Hendersons said they’re hoping to fill the space with retail or a small eatery, like a bakery. I put in a plug for the customized fast-salad concept that is becoming popular in San Francisco, New York — and our nation’s capital, where I delightfully munched earlier this month.
