Sugar Daddies will be ‘dessert food court’

By April 8, 2011

I reported last month that the South Davis ice cream shop Davis Creamery was moving to the former Yogurt Shack spot downtown. Now I have some details.

One of the original owners, David Robert, took over the business a couple of weeks ago. His 10-year lease in Oakshade Town Center expired, giving him the freedom to move. It closed late last month.

The downtown store’s name will be Sugar Daddies. While it will be coordinated by Robert, it will include three independent businesses: Davis Creamery, Cupcake Craving and Cookie Connection. It’s a different arrangement than the former one, where the creamery sold those additional products. He’s calling it more of a “dessert food court.”

He said they’re shooting for a May 1 opening, but that may be optimistic.
