Visitors Bureau unveils redesigned website

The Yolo County Visitors Bureau launched its revamped and updated website — www.yolocvb.org — on Monday, completing a four-month project.

The new site provides broad and detailed visitor information about Davis, Woodland, Winters and Yolo County in a fresh, engaging way with many new features, a news release said.

Interactivity is a hallmark of the new website, providing extensive information about hotels and inns, meeting facilities with resources for event and meeting planners, and activities from visiting art galleries and historical sites to farm tours and winery tasting rooms.

A comprehensive restaurant database, with mini-reviews, can be searched by city/location or by type of cuisine. Visitors to the site will find numerous maps ready for download, community links, and transportation resources available. The Calendar of Events section can be searched by date or type of activity.

Other new features include a growing collection of videos, such as clips depicting the U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame in Davis, as well as a segment about Putah Creek Café in Winters, which appeared on the Food Network TV show “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.”

There is also a full media section with press releases, news clips, story ideas and a media assistance form.

“We are very excited about our new website, and we think it will serve both tourists to Yolo County as well as residents here,” said Alan Humason, YCVB’s executive director, in the news release. “With this new platform, we have a great deal of flexibility to create new pages and promote the many wonderful features of our communities.

“We also have lots of photographs rolling in a number of slide shows, because we want people to see just how interesting and beautiful Yolo County is. We will continue to add features down the road, too; for example, we are contemplating a blog that could involve several contributors who can help convey the experience of being here.”

The redesign was executed by Heloisa Kinder of HK Atelier, a website design and development company in Davis. She has previously done work for the Hallmark Inn, Davis Farm to School, Hughes Design Studio, Davisville Management Company and Sandino Consulting, among others.

The YCVB is contemplating a mobile version of the site, as well as an expanded presence on social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter.
