Watermelon Music hosts annual food-for-strings event

By From page A4 | November 09, 2011

Watermelon Music and D’Addario are offering free strings for guitars, basses, mandolins or ukuleles during a special promotion from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Anyone who brings their instrument to the store, 207 E St. in downtown Davis, along with at least one nonperishable food item, will receive a brand-new set of D’Addario strings, donated by the company.

“Our staff will tune and polish your instrument, and send you happily on your way,” a news release said.

All food items received will be donated to Davis Community Meals, helping families during the upcoming holiday season. Any extra donations will be accepted with gratitude.

Two instruments per household or person are the limit.
