Z Specialty Food will host its second annual open house from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at its warehouse, 1250-A Harter Ave., Woodland.
All of the company’s products will be available for tasting and for purchase at deeply discounted prices. There will lots of raffles and giveaways featuring honey wine from Woodland’s Queen Sheba Winery and gift certificates for classes at Black Dragon Brewery in Woodland in addition to a turkey and Z Specialty Food gift sets.
“Last year we decided it was time to reach out to our local community and neighbors,” said Josh Zeldner, one of the family owners, in a news release. “We had so much fun introducing everyone to our wide range of products and the response was wonderful. Our first event this November brought many community members from Davis, Woodland, Dixon and Sacramento. Most were surprised to find and to ‘taste’ us.”
Z Specialty Food is home to Moon Shine Trading Company, Island of the Moon Apiaries and Cowboy Caviar.
Moon Shine Trading processes varietal honeys from across the United States packed in everything from small jars to barrels. In addition, each flavor is available as “Honey in the Straw” — “an easy and delicious way to keep your favorite honey with you,” Zeldner said.
There are more than 10 unique honeys in this gourmet line. Moon Shine Trading also features tangy and flavorful honey fruit spreads, chocolate nut spreads and a wide range of gift packaging.
Island of the Moon Apiaries is home to a smaller group of varietals available locally in several independent grocery stores.
Cowboy Caviar’s all natural fresh vegetable spreads are “great with eggs, chicken and as a topping on pizza,” Zeldner said.
The company’s website and Facebook pages will feature regular updates, directions and photos of this and last year’s events. For more information, visit www.zspecialtyfood.com or call (530) 668-0660.
