“Low Carbon Pathways to an Artful Life” is the green theme for this month’s Second Friday ArtAbout, which features eco-friendly art and which coincides with a special downtown electric vehicle cruise Friday evening.
The e-vehicles will cruise through downtown Davis from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., ultimately landing at Central Park for a show-and-tell.
The Second Friday ArtAbout is a monthly evening of art viewing and artists’ receptions at galleries and businesses. All events are free; many include refreshments and a chance to talk with the artists.
In keeping with the green theme, attendees are asked to walk, bike, ride their electric vehicle or take the train to downtown Davis.

Muralists Sofia Lacin and Hennessy Christophel work on a massive municipal water tank and transform it into a vibrant, inviting piece of art.
The pair, business partners and friends since high school, won a $75,000 city grant last fall to make pretty a new 4 million-gallon water tank in East Davis. About 80 percent of their budget will cover the cost of materials, including three large metal sculptures.
Because the tank faces Interstate 80, city officials wanted it to be an eye-catching signature that would remind commuters of everything Davis is and has to offer.
“ ‘Discovery’ was our most key word,” Christophel said, and Lacin agreed. “We thought for months about ‘discovery.’ “
