Fruits, veggies, nuts and flowers available at Sutter market
Thursday’s Sutter Davis Hospital Farmers Market — open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the hospital’s main entrance — will host 10 farmers, plus two prepared food vendors.
Market shoppers will find fresh, local eggs from Isolde Farms in Esparto; cheeses from Winters Cheese Company; almonds, flavored almonds and almond butter from the Nut House in Arbuckle; watermelon and tomatoes from Pacific Star Gardens in Woodland; Asian pears, apples, figs, fresh prunes, dried vegetables, and fresh and dried herbs from Full Circle Farm in Davis; apricots, peaches, nectarines and plums from Neufeld Farms in Petaluma; honey from Silveyville Farm in Dixon; tomatoes, corn, peppers, potatoes, carrots, beets, onions and garlic from Toledo Farms in Lodi; and flowers and a wide variety of vegetables from Vue Farms in Sacramento.
Prepared foods will be available from Upper Crust Bakery of Davis and East West Gourmet Afghan Foods of Concord.
Shoppers can use their debit or credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express) to purchase market dollars, which can be used at Sutter market on Thursdays as well as at Davis Farmers Market on Saturdays (8 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and Wednesdays (4:30 to 8:30 p.m).
Both markets also accept EBT cards and issue market scrip. The market also accepts WIC farmers market nutrition coupons for WIC mothers and seniors.
The Sutter Davis Hospital Farmers Market is the result of a partnership between the Davis Farmers Market and Sutter Davis Hospital that began in January 2010 to promote healthy eating under the slogan, “Good health begins with farm-fresh food.”
