Cellist Sarah Fiene — a former member of the UC Davis-based Empyrean Ensemble and the Sacramento Philharmonic — will give an hourlong recital featuring music by Janacek, Schumann, Stravinsky, Piazzolla, Messiaen and American Mark O’Connor at 7 p.m. Sunday. The concert will take place at Congregation Bet Haverim, 1715 Anderson Road in Davis.

Fiene lives in San Francisco, where she is active with several chamber music groups, and has played in the cello section of the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra and the San Francisco Symphony. She comes to Davis several days a week to work with her private cello students here.

Donations will be accepted at the door to defray the cost of presenting the concert. Fiene will repeat the program at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Music Building at Sacramento State University.
