Theater company screens new local film
Barnyard Theatre will screen the original film “Princess Daisy” on Saturday and Sunday at the Veterans’ Memorial Theater, 203 E. 14th St.
Directed and filmed by Ian Wallace and Steven Schmidt from a screenplay by Jennifer Provenza, “Princess Daisy” is Barnyard Theatre’s first movie.
It centers around Daisy, a young woman who grew up in Davis and then moved to New York to pursue an acting career. When Daisy gets into financial trouble, she is forced to temporarily move back in with her parents, and soon finds herself working as a princess at children’s birthday parties.
This feature-length comedy, filmed in Yolo County, follows Daisy in her romantic and career adventures during a long Davis summer. It stars Provenza, Kris Ide, Kate German, Bruce Wallace, Elizabeth Andrea, Anthony Pinto, Gwyn Bruch, Dara Yazdani, Colin Wallace and other community members, including Yolo County Supervisors Jim Provenza and Don Saylor.
At 2 p.m. Saturday, there will be a special matinee showing for younger children, showcasing more of the birthday party footage that features local children. The showing also will include singing princesses, balloon animals and face painting. A donation of $10 is suggested.
At 7 p.m. Sunday, the film will be shown in its entirety. “Princess Daisy” is recommended for adults and children over the age of 13. This “red carpet” screening will include a meet-and-greet with many of the actors, and has a $10 suggested donation
