Ricardo Castro of Davis has won the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers Young Investigators Award.
SHPE is a national organization based in the city of Industry that aims to advance Hispanics in STEM fields. This award is presented to a recipient whose accomplishments and extraordinary efforts consistently demonstrate a sincere commitment to the goals of SHPE and the Hispanic community.
Castro is an assistant professor in the chemical engineering and materials science department at UC Davis. His research has paved the way for future research in the area of thermodynamics.
His innovative approach has provided a technique to assess interface energy data and established a platform for the field in the future. He has also implanted a research program at UCD that not only provides expertise guidance, but an opportunity for students to get a hands-on research experience.
