College admissions expert Sally Springer, associate chancellor emerita at UC Davis, will speak to parents and students Wednesday evening in the Davis High School library, 315 W. 14th St.

Springer’s presentation, beginning at 7:30 p.m., will be on “Calming the College Admissions Frenzy: Eight Common Mistakes and How to Avoid Them.”

The talk will cover several important points about the college admissions process that students and parents need to know before they begin the journey, including information on how to build a college list, what colleges look for in applicants and financial aid.

Springer is a psychologist with 30-plus years of experience in higher education as a professor and university administrator. She is a co-author of the second edition of the best-selling book, “Admission Matters: What Students and Parents Need to Know About Getting Into College.”

She has also written “How to Succeed in College,” a guidebook for college freshmen, and has been a volunteer admissions reader for UCD.
