Girls who volunteer may apply for grant

By October 02, 2012

Girls ages 14 to 17 who volunteer in their community or school are eligible to apply for the Violet Richardson Award, an annual $1,000 grant given by Soroptimist International of Davis.

It’s what you do that counts:

* Are your activities conducted on a volunteer basis?

* Are you caring, compassionate, creative and committed to making the world a better place?

* Have you demonstrated initiative in identifying a specific problem and trying to solve it?

* Have you had a significant and noteworthy accomplishment as a volunteer?

If you can answer yes to these questions and would like to apply, download an application from the SI Davis website. Go to www.sidavis.org/awards, and download the Violet Richardson Application pdf. Priority goes to girls whose work focuses on a specific project. Please provide photos, news clippings and other supporting documents.

For more information, contact Wendy Weitzel at [email protected]. The deadline is Dec. 1.
