I'm glad that Clara (and Emily) are ok. Just this morning, riding and dropping my son to Birch Lane, I was thinking that the side streets (which the kids usually use for riding their bikes) should be completely free of auto traffic at that time.

How about if the streets were shut to cars from 8:15 - 8:25 every morning, and then again for 10 minutes after close of school? Ok, these numbers might need to be adjusted -- but the point is that we need to create a safe zone in which kids can ride their bikes without the threat of being hit. By some one speeding, or perhaps someone who looked at their phone momentarily, or even someone who just lost control for a second.

Any supporters for the idea?
