Aspiring artists showed off their Street Smarts in the sixth annual city of Davis Street Smarts Poster Contest. Elementary school students were asked to create original artwork illustrating the importance of proper helmet use, safe bicycle riding, crossing the street safely and safe driving.

The winning artists were acknowledged in a ceremony hosted by Mayor Joe Krovoza at the Davis Art Center last month.

Among children in grades K-3, first place went to Zachary Hoblit, second place to Ella Obegi and third place to Arami Colman.

Among children in grades 4-6, Nu Ri Lee took first place, Arianna Rosenberg took second and Rachel Fort won third.

First-place winners received $75 gift cards to The Avid Reader, a month of free classes at Baciarini’s Martial Arts, free YoloBerry frozen yogurt, a $25 B&L Bike Shop gift card and more. Second- and third-place winners received prizes as well.
