Children in grades K-6 are invited to submit artwork for the 2012 Davis Street Smarts Traffic Safety Poster Contest. All submitted artwork will be displayed Dec. 7-15 at the Davis Art Center, 1919 F St., and prizes will be awarded for the best art. Artwork must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. Wednesday to the city of Davis Public Works Department at City Hall, 23 Russell Blvd.
This year’s poster themes are:
* Safe helmet use for kids and adults;
* Safe bicycle riding (always follow the rules of the road);
* Safe driving (no phoning, texting or speeding); and
* Safe street crossing (stop, look left/right/left, then cross, and always pay attention).
Prizes will be awarded in two age groups: grades K-3 and 4-6.
