* Tickets go on sale today for the city’s annual sixth-grade party, which takes place Thursday, June 7, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Veteran’s Memorial Center, 203 E. 14th St. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at the Community Services Office, 600 A St., Suite C. The event is open to this year’s graduating sixth-graders and sells out early every year. An informational packet and medical release form — required to enter the party — will be distributed to sixth-graders by each of the elementary schools. * Today is the deadline to submit entries for the 2013 Clean Air Calendar Contest sponsored by the Yolo-Solano Air Quality Management District. Twelve submissions will be selected for inclusion in the calendar and local students can earn $30 if selected. “Why Clean Air Matters” is the theme for the 2013 calendar. Entry is free. Full contest rules, ideas, air quality info and entry forms are available at http://ysaqmd.org.

* Join the Davis High Madrigal Singers and Advanced Treble Choir for a pops concert beginning at 7 p.m. in the Brunelle Performance Hall, 315 W. 14th St. The evening will feature soloists, duets and full choirs singing the hits of today and yesterday. Tickets are $6 in advance at Watermelon Music and $8 at the door. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

Saturday

* Athletes in grades 7-12 are invited to get complete their sports physicals early by attending a sports physical clinic at Sutter Hospital, 2030 Sutter Place. Proceeds from the physicals, which cost $20, will benefit Davis High School athletics. All students participating in school sports at the junior highs and high school next year are required to have a completed form on file. Packets are available in all school offices.

* The annual Jazz-N-Pops, featuring the Davis High School Jazz and Concert Choirs, is at 7 p.m. in the Brunelle Performance Hall, 315 W 14th St. Musical numbers include pieces from the “Pal Joey,” “West Side Story,” and “In the Heights,” as well as jazz standards such as “That Old Black Magic” and more. Tickets purchased in advance are available now from Jazz Choir members and are $8 general and $5 students. On the day of the concert, tickets will be available at the door and are $10.
