Visitors’ Guide: Double-decker buses

By From page C17 | June 12, 2014

In 1968, Unitrans, UC Davis’ bus system, purchased vintage double-decker buses from London and brought them to Davis to start a bus system. Over time, Unitrans added 10 more of the vintage buses, although only a few run now.

To catch a ride on one of the iconic buses during the academic year, take the E-line (downtown, F and J streets); or the F-line (Oak Avenue, Alvarado Avenue (east) and Catalina Drive).

Plus, for the first time ever, the double-deckers will run in the summer. “We have never run the double-decker buses in the summer before, and now one will be available each day for parents and kids looking for a summer outing,” said Anthony Palmere, Unitrans general manager.
