Bike Swap was a big success

By From page A7 | April 25, 2013

A big thanks to all the families who participated in the César Chávez Elementary Citywide Bike Swap on April 14. It was a win-win situation for those who sold their bikes, donated their bikes or bought bikes at the swap.

Modeled after the DHS Ski Swap, more than 120 bikes were consigned or donated and then sold for great prices. One family purchased bikes for everyone in their family for under $200!

The swap could not have happened without the help of volunteers from Davis Bicycles!, John Lieswyn, Aaron from APEX Cycles and several Chávez parents. Additional support was given by B&L Bike Shop and Davis Wheelworks, which both offered discount tune-up and repairs for bikes purchased at the Bike Swap.

Lastly, a big thank you to The Davis Enterprise for helping to promote the Bike Swap.

Due to the success, we plan to make this an annual event. All profits went to the César Chávez Spanish Immersion Parent and Teachers. Thank you again to all who made this first time fundraising event so successful and so fun. Hope to see you next year!
