I urge people to cut out the following words of Bob Dunning and mail them to the school board. Bob wrote that this should become district policy: “All students enrolled in any of our schools are deemed to be gifted and talented and it is the expressed goal of the Davis Joint Unified School District to bring out the gifts and talents of every student in our care.”
The current policy needs to change. When the district labels and separates out the 30 percent “gifted” by a test, a loud and clear message is sent to the 70 percent left behind: You are not gifted. What an awful thing to do to children.
