Check out plastic bags exhibit

By March 8, 2011

As the Davis City Council members consider a ban on plastic bags, they would do well to visit the UC Davis Design Museum in Walker Hall. The current exhibit, “Bags Across the Globe,” does a great job of outlining the problems associated with global production and use of more than 500 billion plastic bags per year.

The display includes the bags collected by a Davis family in a single year, which can help skeptics of the ban to realize the physical volume of our plastic bag habit. The display also features a number of initatives from other countries of people trying to deal with the tidal wave of plastic by converting them to usable items with a longer life span.

The exhibit runs through Friday. See http://www.designmuseum.ucdavis.edu or http://www.annsavageau.com/blog for more information.
