Art-is-Davis has launched!
We are very excited to announce that our new cooperative art space in the heart of downtown Davis has opened its doors! Since our opening day on July 1 we have hosted four figure-drawing sessions, begun a course in drawing fundamentals and had the first of four pen-and-ink and watercolor sketching classes.
We are thrilled to offer a twice-weekly figure drawing opportunity that is open to all mediums; thus far, participating artists have worked in pencil, charcoal and conte, pastel, pen and ink, watercolor, oils and even clay.
We invite the public to stop by to see the beautiful new co-op we have created with the help and support of many friends and family members. The space includes semi-private studios, two utility sinks and a dark room all inside an updated turn-of-the-century house with beautiful windows, hardwood floors and lofty ceilings.
We would like to especially thank Dee Rosenberg for creating architectural drawings and a mock-up of the space for us; Roger Bockrath for his help installing the darkroom; Eli Siegel and Kevin McGrew for painting the walls; Eva Bayon for beautifying the garden; Reese Woodward for web design and internet supervision; John Natsoulas for his words of advice; Dan Dowling for giving us an opportunity to bring our vision to fruition in this beautiful building; Alan Humason for guidance on publicity and Julia Van Horn for writing and editing our publicity; Peter Buck and Frans Dewaard for being general sherpas and ever-supportive husbands; and all of our friends, old and new, who have given the space life through their supportive presence!
