Consider senior housing needs

By From page A12 | November 10, 2013

The Cannery project needs to include housing that seniors or the disabled (who don’t want or can’t afford the largest homes) can use. There are none planned now. But there are at least 112 lots that would be of suitable size; surely some of these could be used for small, single-story homes. There would be no need to reconfigure the layout of the project.

I hope the City Council is not a rubber stamp like the Planning Commission, and will consider the needs of our aging population. Allowing seniors to downsize also could free up houses for families.
