Conundrum with homeless
As a kneejerk liberal, I try to be empathetic to the challenges the homeless face. But I am torn when encountering human feces on the doorstep of my small business. Who should take responsibility for giving the homeless a place to relieve themselves? Perhaps the city could place and maintain a port-a-potty in this neighborhood (Olive Drive).
I realize that risks making Davis “homeless-friendly” and could create its own set of problems, but when faced with cleaning this up, which is the better option?

First can you be 100% sure it was a homeless person. You are probably right. But then again your concern about this person last 10 minutes. That person still has to get thru 23 hours and 50 minutes that day with no home or food. Like normal a DVM would be more concerned with an animal than a human. This of making Davis "homeless-friendly" - you mean human-friendly? You just want it to be child-friendly or puppy-friendly only the nice things in life....
