Conversation, not condemnation

By From page A6 | July 20, 2014

There has been a significant amount of rhetoric and propaganda circulating in Davis recently regarding the conflict between Israel and Hamas. As an American with Jewish heritage, I don’t pretend to understand this vastly complicated issue.

Whatever your stance on the issue, however, I would implore my Davis neighbors to remember that we as a university town are hosts to a large Israeli community of academics and their families here to study, research, teach and contribute to our town. While there is a place for civil discussion, unsympathetic arguments and mean-spirited newspaper articles send an unwelcoming and intolerant message to our Israeli neighbors and friends.

Please let us engage in conversation, not condemnation.
