Davis Childspree a big success

By
From page A10 | October 09, 2013 |

The Davis Salvation Army Committee would like to thank the 70 volunteers who donated their time to our annual Childspree. The volunteers chaperoned 70 Davis schoolchildren as they shopped for back-to-school clothes at JCPenney on Saturday, Aug. 17.

JCPenney in Woodland opened its doors at 7:30 a.m. for the children. We would like to thank Rochelle Gardner and the entire JCPenney staff for their time and continued support for this program.

Special thanks go to Inessa Snyder with Davis Community Meals, Donna Stephens with Montgomery Elementary, Ellen Shields with Patwin Elementary and Mack Walker, an advocate for Progress Ranch, for their assistance in identifying children to participate in this event.

A big thank you to the Nugget Market on Covell Boulevard in Davis for the bagels and cream cheese. Also, thank you to Starbucks in Davis on Lyndell Terrace for the coffee donation.

Funding for this event came from donations collected during Salvation Army holiday bell-ringing. Thanks to Barb Geisler, additional donations were received from Davis Waste Removal and members of the Davis Odd Fellows and the Davis Rebekah Lodge.

If you would like more information about this and other Salvation Army events, please email [email protected].
