Davis High is the big winner in its recent hire of Marc Hicks, who probably is one of best human beings in this community today. His leadership and work for this town don’t get the recognition they deserve.
Marc Hicks not only deserves this position as DHS varsity football coach but deserves the support of the whole community including myself, a distant friend.
I watch professional soccer games today and still think Hicks could have been the best player ever from the United States. I write that because soccer had to be his fourth or fifth best sport.
What truly amazes me about this leader of young men was his ability to handle pressure that 99 percent of us never had to go through.
Hicks was raised right. Lawrence Hicks, Marc’s father, was a leader, an intellect, a great human being, and an important part of many people’s lives. Marc Hicks’ father has been proud of him for a long time but these are the days he looks down with a big smile from heaven.
Congratulations to the Hicks family as well as to this community. Coach Hicks epitomizes this quote: “Winners are not those who never fail, but those who never quit.”
