It takes a true Republican loyalist or as Rummy would say "dead-ender" to not see the difference between debt acquired during an economic calamity, and the debt Bush and the Republicans chose to add because it was part of their extreme ideology to slowly starve government of needed funds. Meanwhile, while you go on about BENGHAZI! (don't forget FAST AND FURIOUS! and NEW BLACK PANTHERS! and FEMA CAMPS!), your pals running the House of Representatives refuse to allow the government to be funded and tell us the default they're on the verge of causing is no big deal.

I've heard it said in the media that Obama was just playing politics when he opposed raising the debt ceiling, and called it "immoral and unpatriotic", and talked about "putting it on the credit card", and threats to our security of having so much debt. I call his stance now pure hypocrisy. However, this is not as bad as stating before the election that Social Security and Medicare were doing fine, or stating on The View that "we still don't know" if Bengazi was a terrorist attack. These were just out and out lies, so a little hypocrisy with Obama could be considered a minor character flaw.

Rather than trying to play gotcha take a look back sometime at previous debt ceiling votes (plenty to look at too, seven or so under Bush alone). By informal custom the minority party in Congress typically votes no if the presidency is held by the other party. So the vote might appear close to you but it was along party lines and the outcome was known before the vote was taken. The out of power party would criticize the vote, then switch sides when back in power. Up until now it was acknowledged by both parties that raising the debt ceiling was mandatory, and basically a formality even if they did superficially play politics with it. Now the lunatics are out of the asylum, running the House, and telling us don't worry about paying that debt a default is good for us. The GOP is officially the deadbeat party now.
