Did you consider the impact?

I am deeply disturbed and saddened that the article regarding the homicide was published in this past Sunday’s newspaper. The horrific and graphic details are sure to have an enormous impact on our community. It lacked sensitivity to the victim’s family, the Marsh family and the community at large.

Davis is still a smaller-than-most town where much of what happens is intermeshed on multiple levels. Had you considered what the impact on the students who had known Daniel Marsh will be and the long-lasting effect that this may have on their emotional well-being?

I am extremely disappointed in the lack of good judgment that the paper had shown in the decision to write this story in that way.

It was very disturbing but I'm glad they printed it as they did. It is time to break the Andy or Mayberry delusion that exists in Davis and take a hard look at pure evil. The article was brutal but news is news-time to pull our heads out of the sand.

You can be pretty certain that every kid at the high school already knew much of this, and that some of our kids are already upset by it. The rumor mill is efficient, effective, and will distort the truth to make the story even more gruesome, if possible. As usual, the last ones to hear about it will be the parents. By publishing the details, the paper performs a service, because we can now deal with questions from our kids. That is a parent's responsibility.
