I disagree with the recommendation of The Enterprise in favor of the water project. I urge a no vote on Measure I. I agree with the lengthy analysis of the many conflicting facts made by The Enterprise but disagree with the conclusion.
We can quibble endlessly over the conflicting opinions of the experts. I also respect the urgings of the many citizens who have written in on both sides of this complex matter. Yet I base my decision on a different source of information. My source is not only impartial but equally as well informed as anyone we have heard from. It decided against participating in this project.
I am speaking, of course, about the university. UC Davis draws water with deep wells from the same aquifer as we do. It was offered a chance to participate in this project and elected not to. UCD faces many of the same problems as we do and came to a different decision. I agree with the university and thus urge a no vote.
I realize this is a simplistic approach, but I think UCD knows what it is doing and its decision is the final determinate for me.
