Don’t miss ‘Tommy’ at UCD

By May 24, 2011

You still have a chance to see the rock opera “Tommy” this weekend at the Wright Theater on the UC Davis campus, and I strongly recommend it.

I’ve seen the production twice and several things stand out: The set is very clever, the show is fast-moving and high-energy, and the live music is great — Kenny Manlapig’s guitar work is outstanding. I don’t know how Benjamin Hoffner-Brodsky keeps a straight face as the 10-year-old Tommy, but kudos to him.

Excellent work went into every aspect of it — thanks to Mindy Cooper and the cast for an awesome show of singing and dancing.
