Early on the morning of Sept. 7, I was at the ATM of US Bank. As I turned to walk away from the ATM, I caught a glimpse of the beautiful trees in the parking lot across F Street being bathed in the early-morning sun. The trees, in response, were casting their shadows throughout the parking lot. I also could see the shadows on the sun-drenched Bank of America building cast by trees along E Street.
The wonderful feeling I experienced did not last long as I was reminded of the intent of Davis’ planners to turn this largest open space of the downtown commercial district into a concrete parking structure.
I do not consider myself opposed to development within Davis, but please, save this open area for present citizens of Davis and future generations to enjoy when visiting downtown Davis.
