Davis traffic lights are a joke. They should be set to keep the major thoroughways flowing. Too often a car will pull up on a side road and the light will immediately turn green for them stopping the flow of traffic on roads like Covell and Pole Line. What’s wrong with having side roads wait like 30 seconds for the light to change in order to keep the major roads flowing? Talk about wasting gas when you make 10 cars stop for just one car’s immediate left turn. I thought Davis was all about being carbon neutral.

Wow. “Davis Enterprise?” is having grumpy day indeed. I hope things get better for him/her. I don’t think Jon Kerr every suggested that you anyone did not have a right to have an opinion. He only made some observations, which were supported by the previous comments.

It uses a metal detector, not a scale. It can work a little better if you have a heavy bicycle. But the more serious issue is that some of the stoplight detectors are not properly set for bicycles. I think that sometimes this is accidental and sometimes it’s deliberate.
