Educators support Lovenburg

By From page A6 | October 31, 2012

Susan Lovenburg is a person we admire for her tireless work on behalf of the children of Davis. Her ability to understand the complexities of school issues and her willingness to listen to all points of view make her an exemplary board member.

She studies issues carefully before making decisions. She knows that supporting teachers in the classroom is essential to a quality program for the children and has felt the pain of the cuts the board has been forced to make. Susan has been a leader in efforts to secure more stable funding, both locally and at the state level.

For this reason, Susan wholeheartedly supports Measure E, the renewal of the long-standing parcel tax. Because the community has passed these measures repeatedly, Davis schools have not had to eliminate many programs that other districts have lost, such as libraries, music programs, science labs at the elementary level, the seventh period of instruction at the secondary level and guidance counselors.

As longtime Davis educators, we had the opportunity to know Susan well as a parent, a School Site Council member and as a board member. Davis is lucky to have a person of her caliber. Please join us in voting for Susan Lovenburg and for Measure E
