Fernandes offers solutions

By From page A6 | November 06, 2012

I pledged my endorsement to Alan Fernandes for school board long before he decided to run. Many times over the past few years I’ve ended a conversation encouraging him to run and promising my support.

His dedication and passion for our children is deep and genuine. When he says he cares for and will advocate for every child in our school district, I know he means every child. He understands that our children need to be supported in a successful education that prepares them for any path after high school, whether that be higher education, direct employment, or public service — and all the many paths in between. He understands this can only happen through solid policies, strategic partnerships and financial solid ground that can support teachers and programs.

While passion is important, the ability to turn ideas into implemented policies is critical. Consistently, Alan offers a solution when he identifies a problem. Solutions that are well thought-out and often creative, drawing upon his experience both personally and professionally. His knowledge and direct experience in state policies are essential in navigating our district through these tough financial times and beyond.

I hope you will join me in voting for Alan Fernandes this election.
