I am writing to encourage you to vote for Alan Fernandes for Davis school board. I have known Alan since our sons were in kindergarten together. Alan is one of those parents who make a true difference in the lives of kids.

He is a hands-on volunteer in the classroom, bringing his positive attitude and welcoming smile to class with him on a regular basis. When there is a school work party, Alan is there with a rake and shovel cleaning up the campus. At every community-building activity, fundraiser and special event at our school, one can find Alan and his family in the heart of it all.

With his time spent in the school, Alan has seen firsthand what the budget cuts and increased class sizes have done to the learning environment of our children. He understands that our children and teachers need more support in these difficult times. He is the only school board candidate who received the Davis Teachers Association endorsement. Alan knows that teachers spend more time with our children than just about anyone else, so it is essential to support our teachers.

Having a child who is in second grade and another in preschool, Alan will make decisions with the future of our educational system in mind.

If you want someone who walks the talk, please vote for Alan Fernandes for Davis school board on Nov. 6.
