Fundraiser anything but trivial

By March 16, 2011

The Rotary Club of Davis Sunrise thanks the 90 clever Davis community members who participated in the Feb.17 Community Trivia Challenge. The evening raised close to $4,000, and donations were made to CommuniCare, International House, Davis High School Blue & White Foundation, Pence Gallery, Team Davis, Suicide Prevention and Crisis Services of Yolo County, Rotary International and Project Linus.  The CommuniCare table was the biggest winner, taking home $1,200.

In addition, these trivia players helped raise money for the new human rights initiative at UC Davis. Proceeds from the 2011 Trivia Challenge will fund projects that promote excellence in human rights education: a competition for student best paper, honorariums for speakers on the topic and an undergraduate journal.

We want to thank in particular chef Jim Belenis, who master-minded the tasty appetizers; International House for partnering with our club; and above all, our triviameister extraordinaire, Dr. Andy Jones, who emceed the event and developed the trivia challenge.

We’re looking forward to a third annual challenge in 2012. Come join us.

Susanne Rockwell, Chuck Snipes and Keith Watenpaugh
